Your Responsibilities

  • Development of an information security strategy for the University of Salzburg
  • Implementation of an ISMS in accordance with the ISO/IEC 27001 standard in close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders (especially IT services)
  • Holding training courses on cybersecurity and creating awareness among employees
  • Implementation of regulatory requirements such as the GDPR and NIS2 in close coordination with the data protection officer, in particular by developing standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Advising IT services and other organizational units on information security
  • Conducting internal audits together with the data protection officer
  • Coordination and communication in the event of IT security incidents
  • Assistance in fulfilling reporting obligations to authorities
  • Participation in internal and external committees on the topic of information security

Admission Requirements

  • University degree (university/university of applied sciences) in a relevant subject (cybersecurity, computer science, business informatics, etc.) or
  • HTL or comparable training including many years of professional experience and relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM or CRISC
  • Very good German language skills (C1), fluent English language skills including relevant vocabulary (at least C2)

Desired Qualification

Professional requirements:

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience in cybersecurity
  • Broad basic knowledge in IT
  • Deep knowledge in information security, especially cybersecurity
  • Knowledge of relevant frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001
  • Experience in developing internal policies, auditing and reporting to top management
  • Knowledge in risk management, continuity management and stakeholder management

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52,007.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.

Organisational Unit

The staff unit “Office of the Rector” is a central organizational unit of the University of Salzburg that works closely with the top management level to coordinate administrative, organizational and strategic tasks.

The main tasks include:

  1. Supporting the Rector: The Rector's Office carries out administrative activities to support the Rector, such as planning and organizing appointments, trips and meetings as well as handling correspondence.
  2. Committee work: The Rector's Office is significantly involved in the preparation and organization of meetings of central university committees such as the Rectorate, the Senate and the University Council.
  3. Coordination of projects: The Office manages and coordinates university projects and initiatives, particularly those related to the strategic direction of the university and which fall within the Rector's area of responsibility.
  4. Communication interface: The office acts as a communication interface between the Rector and other internal and external stakeholders, including faculties, departments, administrative departments, ministries and other universities.
  5. Document and information management: The management of important documents, reports and minutes is also part of the tasks, as is the preparation of information for the Rector's decisions. Ensuring data protection also plays a central role here.
  6. Management of employees and budget preparation and monitoring

The Rector's Office ensures that organizational and administrative tasks run smoothly so that the Rector can concentrate on the strategic management of the university.
