We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a small finance team. This is a key position within the finance department, combining hands-on accounting tasks with leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in Austrian GAAP (UGB), experience in team coordination, and a proactive, process-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, and fixed assets.
- Coordinate and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes in accordance with UGB.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Lead, coach, and support a team of 3–4 accountants, assigning tasks and monitoring workload.
- Prepare and review VAT returns and collaborate with external tax advisors (Steuerberater) on local tax filings.
- Support audit preparations (internal and external) and ensure proper documentation.
- Contribute to process improvements and accounting system optimization.
- Assist in the implementation of finance and accounting projects (e.g., automation, digitalization).
- Collaborate closely with Controlling, HR, and other internal departments.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5 years of professional experience in accounting; preferably in manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of Austrian GAAP (UGB) and Austrian tax regulations (USt, KöSt).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., BMD, SAP, or similar).
- Fluency in German (C1 level); good command of English for internal communication.
- Structured, hands-on, and solution-driven personality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead a small team effectively.
